Fruit snack bars


I found a box of organic millet flakes at back to basics, the ingredients on the back is listed as Organic Whole Oat Flour, Organic Concentrated Grape Juice, Organic Brown Rice Flour, Organic Millet, Organic Oat Bran, Organic Barley Malt Extract, Trace of Sea Salt. So basically like oat meal or granola.

1 cup packed light brown sugar
20 tbsp butter
4 tbsp molasses
10 cups millet flakes
4 tbsp mixed seeds, I used 2 types of pumpkin seeds, roasted regular, and roasted in honey
1/2 cup dried mango chopped
1/2 cup mixed dried fruit (I used apple rings, apricots and prunes) Chopped

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Place the sugar, butter and molasses in a heavy-based saucepan and heat until melted, then stir in the remaining ingredients.

Spoon the mixture into an 22×14 nonstick baking pan, press down lightly, and place in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Mark to divide into 24 bars, then cool before removing from the pan.

They were delicious, the millet flakes weren’t too bad. It’s a type of ceral, I suppose you can use oats instead to better effect.
